Cleveland Browns Week 12 studs and duds from close call in Jacksonville
By Randy Gurzi
Stud: Nick Chubb
If you haven’t noticed by now, Nick Chubb is one of the best running backs in the NFL. He missed four and a half games this season and should still hit 1,000-yards on the season — and his performance this weekend only solidified that for him. Chubb was unstoppable with 144 yards on 19 carries including a big 29-yard run and a touchdown — which was his sixth rushing score of the season.
It was also the third game in a row that Chubb crossed the 100-yard mark and his fifth of the season. Since coming back from his knee injury suffered in Week 4 against Dallas, Chubb has been dominant. He had 126 yards against Houston and 114 against Philadelphia, leading the Browns to wins in each of those games.
This one was the most yards he had running all season, which seems hard to believe considering he has been so solid all year. It also wasn’t as if he was ripping off one huge run after another as he was simply making his yards on the tough runs. He would turn potential losses into two-yard gains, and two-yard gains into five-yard runs.
One of the biggest knocks on Cleveland last season was that they never truly had an identity. This year, they do. They’re a team that will wear you down on the ground and while they have two superstars in Chubb and Kareem Hunt, Chubb keeps reminding us all he’s on a different level. 0
