3 things the Cleveland Browns must do to beat the Tennessee Titans
By Zane Harris
1. Stop the run
The final thing that the Browns must do to defeat the Titans on Sunday is to play elite run defense. The Titans have the best running back in the league on their roster in Derrick Henry.
Cleveland did a great job in limiting Henry — as a runner — in their game last year. He finished the game against Cleveland with 19 carries, 84 yards, and one touchdown. If they are able to replicate this, there is a good chance the Browns would walk out of Sunday with a record of 9-3.
However, Henry is coming off of a dominant performance against the Colts in which he totaled 178 yards and three touchdowns. On top of this, Henry has been an absolute workhorse for the Titans this year.
He currently leads the entire league in rushing attempts with 256. Along with this, he leads the league in rushing yards with 1,257 and averages 114.3 rushing yards per game. Henry has yet to fumble yet this season. Lastly, he is only one touchdown behind Dalvin Cook for most rushing touchdowns in the league.
It will be near impossible to truly shut down or stop Henry, however, if the Browns can slow him down and force the Titans passing game to try to win the game, Cleveland should be golden.
This is a possibility for the Browns as they rank 10th in the league in rushing defense. However, the Colts rank 8th in terms of rushing yards allowed, yet Henry had a field day against them.
With Myles Garrett being a candidate for defensive player of the year and Olivier Vernon playing some of his best football of the year, it is possible that the Browns defensive line will be able to make some noise against Henry.
However, doing their best to make him a non-factor in the game should be the top priority for the defense going into the game on Sunday.
