5 Bold predictions for Cleveland Browns vs. the Jets
By Greg Newland
1. A turning of the page
Browns fans have been battered since the team’s return in 1999. We often are the butt of jokes on how many quarterbacks the team has had, and the last time the team won the division or a playoff game. Although the Browns likely won’t have a shot at the division this year, they will have a chance of knocking so many other things off the list.
One – a 10-win season and a trip to the playoffs with a good shot at winning. Two – a stable piece at quarterback in Mayfield who looks like he is worthy of giving a big deal to in the next season or two. Three – a head coach who knows how to lead an organization and a general manager who can scout talent.
Fans were in love with John Dorsey who finally did bring talent to Cleveland. Unfortunately, some of that talent was overpaid, had off-field baggage, and didn’t necessarily fit our scheme. And while he was the first step of the Browns turning the corner, some of his shortcomings just wouldn’t let us get over the hump.
Stefanski and Andrew Berry have dragged and pushed this organization over the hump in just one year, and don’t look for that to be any different on Sunday. This is a game the Browns will be favored by 10 points in, and they will take care of business and move to 11-4 and fighting for the top wild-card spot in the playoffs. In past years this would be a letdown game where the offense or defense just wouldn’t show up. It would be close the whole way and they may squeak it out at the end, or even lose.
Not this year, not with Stefanski. This Browns team takes everything on one week at a time, and the only thing that matters right now is beating the Jets. Cleveland will handle the Jets with easy, 28-17. Enjoy it Browns fans, you deserve it.
