Cincinnati Bengals – William Jackson III

There’s a couple of players that caught my eye as I was looking at the list of impending free agents. I first saw seven-time Pro Bowler A.J. Green who could, barring injury, allow this Browns offense to open up the field. Green’s injury history and the fact that he’s on the tail end of his career turned me towards other options.

However, I think the offense is fine, it’s the defense that needs work. Edge rusher Carl Lawson was another guy that I considered since the Browns are probably letting Olivier Vernon walk in the offseason. Another edge rusher wasn’t as dire of a need, in my opinion, as a cornerback was.

I decided to pick up William Jackson III, the fourth-year corner out of the University of Houston. Jackson had an incredible rookie season back in 2017 but then took a step back in both his second and third years in the league. After a somewhat of a resurgence in 2020, Jackson finished as a top 20 cornerback according to PFF and may have earned himself a solid contract.

The 28-year-old would bring in experience to help the younger guys in the locker room as well as being a high-quality starter alongside Denzel Ward.
