4 Cleveland Browns set to have a breakout year in 2021

3. Jedrick Wills, Offensive Tackle
Before you all get going, this doesn’t mean that I think Jedrick Wills had a bad rookie season, it just means I think he is going to get that much better in his second year. Remember, the Browns had the worst tackles in the NFL in 2019, and Wills came in as a rookie and started 15 games.
Wills was more than effective, and no one benefited from that more than Baker Mayfield. After running for his life in 2019 and struggling, Mayfield rebounded and had a career year in 2020.
Wills does have a few minor things to clean up. He did have 11 penalties in 2020 which is more than you want to see. He had three holds and eight false starts. By the end of the season, it did feel like he was good for one jump a game. In the Stefanski offense, losing five yards to a pre-snap penalty can really hurt the team.
Also remember, this is a guy who played on the ride side of the line his entire college career at Alabama. And while things are similar, it was a big ask of a kid so young to transition to one of the toughest positions in the league.
I truly believe with another offseason of coaching from Bill Callahan, and another year in a lineman-friendly scheme, Wills has the chance to crack the all-pro list. If he improves his speed rush blocking slightly and takes away the silly penalties, there is no doubt he will get the consideration he deserves.
