Cleveland Browns 4 biggest needs heading into the 2021 NFL Draft
By Greg Newland
4. Cornerback
One position the Cleveland Browns will certainly address at some point in the draft is cornerback. The team is in good shape (when healthy), but the past injury history of Greedy Williams will likely keep this as an option as early as round number one.
With a deep draft, I think this one comes down to who is available. If guys like Jaycee Horn or Asante Samuel Jr. remain on the board at No. 26 and Berry doesn’t like anyone else, I wouldn’t be shocked at all to see him go this route.
Not only would Horn and Samuel be great fits for the team, but it would also bring a little bit of depth at a position that was decimated with injuries last year. While Williams has had his issues with injuries, remember, Denzel Ward hasn’t been mister reliable either.
The addition of Troy Hill this offseason was a huge move to really solidify the group, but in today’s NFL game you just can’t have enough good cornerbacks.
I believe Berry going cornerback in the first round would only be if the dominos fell perfectly. A guy they love at the position is there, and no one else at the positions below is available. Landing either Horn or Samuel would be a huge win for the organization.
