2. Wide Receiver

One of the more loaded positions in this draft is wide receiver. Also, one of the more interesting positions on the Browns roster is wide receiver. If everyone stays healthy, the team doesn’t have a huge need, but we have yet to see a season where that happens.

It’s also worth noting that Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry will be in a strange position next offseason where they could become cap casualties. Landry will be extremely overpaid for his production at $16.6 million with limited dead money, and Beckham will be due $15 million with a length history of injuries.

If the Browns go wide receiver in the first round, a few difficult decisions could be happening sooner than later. In an offense that is already limited in passing attempts, there isn’t a huge need for a fifth receiver on the roster.

The biggest need right now for the offense, a receiver that can beat man-to-man coverage. And while guys there will be a few top-10 receivers drafted, a guy like Rashod Bateman from Minnesota could be enticing if he is still available.

I put this need over linebacker just because of Berry’s views, but the variance between needs at each of these positions isn’t that big of a gap. Remember, guys like Terrace Marshall and Elijah Moore could also be fantastic second-round options.

Given the depth of the position in the draft, I would be surprised if the Browns use their first-rounder on a receiver, but it certainly could happen.
