Round 5, Pick 153: Tony Fields II, LB, West Virginia

Cleveland kept it going in the fifth round as they took Tony Fields II from West Virginia at No. 153. Fields is listed at 6-foot-1 and 222-pounds which is a bit undersized for a linebacker, but he does offer great speed and is almost like a safety when in coverage.

Does that sound familiar? It should because it’s the same thing we said about Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Now, don’t take that to say this is the same player, because Fields isn’t. Having said that, he’s about as great of a fit in the 4-2-5 scheme as Browns fans could have hoped.

He might spend most of 2021 on special teams, but don’t be surprised if he makes some John Dorsey selections expendable and has a much bigger role in 2022.

Grade: A

Round 5, Pick 169:

This is probably the first pick I wasn’t 100 percent sold on. Richard LeCounte isn’t a bad prospect and Cleveland needed some depth at safety but there were some other prospects on the board who might have been better including Hamsah Nasirildeen from Florida State, Talanoa Hufanga from USC, or Trill Williams from Syracuse.

Grade: C+

Round 6, Pick 211: Demetric Felton, WR/RB, UCLA

With their final pick in the draft they were hosting, Cleveland took UCLA wide receiver/running back Demetric Felton. He’s projected as a slot receiver in the NFL and while the Browns have one of those in Jarvis Landry, there has been a ton of speculation about his future.

Felton impressed during the Senior Bowl and while he might not have the most impressive athletic attributes, he’s tough and competitive. He’s also impressive after the catch. He might be a practice squad guy but then again, there could be something there.

Next. Owusu-Karamoah’s role with the Cleveland Browns. dark

Either way, this wasn’t a bad use of the 211th pick. This late, you look for upside and hope to find a diamond in the rough.
