Now that the 2022 NFL Draft has concluded, it is time to examine the roster ramifications. The NFL is business as well as a numbers game. There are some tough decisions looming for the Cleveland Browns in the near future.

So far into Andrew Berry’s tenure as general manager of the Cleveland Browns, every player he has drafted has ended up making the final roster. This year Berry selected nine players in the 2022 NFL Draft.

However, the floor of the Browns roster is higher than when Berry took over, so it is no guarantee that this entire draft class makes the final 53-man roster.

But there are at least seven locks from this draft class that will push some veterans out of the door. It is a game of musical chairs, and some popular players may find themselves without a seat when the music stops. Here are five Browns whose jobs may be in danger because of the draft.

Cleveland Browns Bubble Player No. 5: Drew Forbes

Is the Drew Forbes experiment drawing to a close? Forbes was selected in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the old regime in Cleveland that was headed by John Dorsey. At the time they believed Forbes was a steal and could eventually become a solid starter.

Then Forbes suffered an injury in the preseason finale that sidelined him for all of but two games his rookie season. After 2019, there was an overhaul of the coaching staff and front office. The new regime viewed Forbes as a candidate to battle for the open spot at right guard. Forbes instead opted out of the 2020 NFL season due to Covid concerns.

We now all know how that battle for the spot at right guard went — Wyatt Teller locked it down with ease. By the time that Forbes returned to the team in 2021, he was at the bottom of the depth chart behind Michael Dunn and Blake Hance. Then Forbes was placed on the injured reserve list yet again after suffering another injury in a preseason game.

Even though the Browns didn’t take a guard in the 2022 NFL Draft, they did select a center as well as two more additional offensive linemen as undrafted free agents. Most notably Ben Petrula out of Boston College who literally played every spot across the offensive line in his time as an Eagle. It is going to be an uphill battle for Forbes to make the 2022 Browns roster.
