The Cleveland Browns added a few new names to the receiving corps this offseason and their depth is already being tested with David Bell on the PUP to start training camp

On Friday, the Cleveland Browns rookies made their way to Berea as they were the first players to report to training camp. The veterans will be there on the 26th, but the rookies get a chance to feel things out before they arrive.

Once the players started to make their way to the facilities, it was announced that David Bell would start camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list due to a foot injury.

The good news is that the injury isn’t serious, as reported by Mary Kay Cabot. She also added that it shouldn’t be long before Bell is practicing again.

It should only be a minor setback for Bell, who was turning heads during minicamps. The third-round pick from Purdue was reportedly catching everything that came his way, showing off the soft hands that made him a popular choice for one of the steals of the draft when he was selected.

Browns wide receiver corps lacks depth

Despite never taking a snap in the NFL, Bell is expected to have a huge role this season for the Browns. He will likely be the No. 3 guy behind Amari Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones, but after that, there are a lot of question marks.

Cleveland has Anthony Schwartz, Jakeem Grant, Michael Woods, Javon Wims, Mike Harley, and Isaiah Weston as the next players up behind Bell. Grant is the most proven in that group but he’s also primarily a return man who can run gadget plays.

Schwartz was a Round 3 pick from Auburn a year ago but was less than impressive as a rookie. His speed could be a major asset, but he needs to take a huge step forward in year two.

Simply put, the Browns might be better this season than last when it comes to their top three receivers, but they still lack depth and it shows when one person goes down.
