Deshaun Watson made an impression for his interaction with several fans — as well as with his play — during the Cleveland Browns open practice Saturday

Saturday was the first of many practices the Cleveland Browns will open up to fans, and it was also their first chance to get a look at Deshaun Watson.

While Watson and the Browns wait for a decision on his status for the season, they’re treating these practices like business as usual. No. 4 has been out there with the first team and is doing all he can to be ready for the regular season.

And despite not playing for the entire 2021 season, Watson already looks rather sharp. There were several positive reports from the practice as he showed off his mobility in the pocket as well as his accuracy — even when on the run.

Even before Saturday’s session, there has been a lot of praise for how Watson is delivering the ball. He’s been making quick decisions, throwing accurate passes, and distributing to every player on the team.

Because of this, players such as David Njoku — who didn’t get the ball nearly enough over the past few seasons — are excited about the chance to work with their new quarterback.

However, it wasn’t just on the field that Watson was making an impression. He was greeted by cheers before the practice, then afterward met with several fans who were lined up for autographs. He even left in socks, as he gave out some signed cleats to some excited fans.

When Cleveland added Watson this offseason, they knew there would be a lot of backlash — and there has been.

But it appears many of the fans were just thrilled to see such a high-caliber quarterback on the field Saturday.
