Overrated Player No. 1 – Donovan Peoples-Jones

Same with Donovan Peoples-Jones, don’t jump all over me before reading.

I think DPJ has a ton of upside and it was a brilliant pick at the time. But I also think there is far too much overvaluing in him as the second wide receiver on this team.

He has shown flashes of brilliance and tremendous catches, but we have yet to see the consistency from him over a long stretch of games. Last year Andrew Berry thought that Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry, and DPJ would be a top three trio in the league. Instead, it was one of the worst performing groups in the league.

So overrated may be a harsh term, but I am afraid he is an overrated No. 2 option. There are still a lot of good wide receivers left in free agency, and if the Browns really want a chance to win, I think they still need to upgrade at the position.

Berry started things off right by bringing in Amari Cooper, he is a legitimate No. 1 receiver, but he can’t do it all alone. Without another option for the Browns quarterback, an NFL defense can put two guys on Cooper and take him out of the equation.

I hope I’m wrong and I hope DPJ has a breakout year and you all throw this in my face at the end of a successful 2022 season.
