Overrated Player No. 2 – Jedrick Wills

Before I get started, I know that Jedrick Wills fought through a ton of injuries last year, but that still doesn’t mean I can’t have some concerns for him heading into 2022. Right off the bat, he twisted his ankle and he never fully let it heal to get back to full speed.

In his defense, the backup tackles were so bad that Wills at 50 percent was better than the next available option. I’m saying that we don’t understand how difficult it has been for him to move from right tackle in college, to left tackle in the NFL. Some don’t understand how different the footwork and angles are, and they also don’t understand how strong and fast some of the defensive ends in the league are.

I struggle to call him overrated, but I think some have given him a free ride because he was the No. 10 overall pick and they want him to pan out. I’m in that boat, but we can’t pretend that he has been a tremendous asset at left tackle.

I do think Wills could have a big jump in year three if he stays healthy, and I also think not having Baker Mayfield create his own pressure at times will be a huge benefit but let’s pump the breaks on thinking he is an All-Pro caliber player.
