With a couple of weeks completed in training camp, which Cleveland Browns players are trending in the wrong direction as we head toward the 2022 season?

Preseason games help players make the 53-man roster, but teams often figure out who will be their primary contributors during practices. That remains the case for the Cleveland Browns, who have now finished more than a week of training camp.

With the preseason quickly approaching — and the regular season just over a month away — here’s a quick look at three players who are trending in the wrong direction.

3. Anthony Schwartz, WR

It’s hard to come down on Anthony Schwartz because he suffered an unfortunate knee injury that slowed him down. With him sidelined, rookie Michael Woods II made a name for himself with one impressive play after another.

The good news for Schwartz is that he’s back on the field — and while he surely would never want another player to suffer an injury, Woods is out with a hamstring issue. That could open the door for Schwartz to re-assert himself in the battle for the No. 3 spot.

Having said that, it’s less than ideal that there have been more positive reports about players such as Woods than there have been in regards to the third-round pick from a season ago. And Woods isn’t the only player Schwartz needs to worry about.

Jakeem Grant was signed to be a returner, but he’s been working with the first-string offense quite a bit and Deshaun Watson has had no issue targeting him.

It’s not an ideal start for Schwartz but he has that insane track speed, which will always help him catch up in any race.
