Player No. 2: Jerome Ford, RB

Was Jerome Ford’s performance last Friday down in Jacksonville a fluke or was it the real deal? He was going up against the Jaguars’ backups and it was only Week 1 of the preseason?

It was impressive though. His ability to wiggle through the line and bolt through and go for 41 yards was pretty impressive.

I thought his run later in the drive when he looked like he got bottled up behind the line but instead was able to bounce outside showed his skill set and understanding of what he was seeing. He ended the night running the ball for 57 yards on 10 carries so outside that big run he didn’t go for a ton of extra yards.

It will be important to see what he can do Sunday against the Eagles. Will he be able to pick up a few bigger runs and help keep the chains moving for first downs? I suspect we will see that.

Ford also helped his quarterback in the game last Friday when he grabbed a floater from Josh Dobbs in the end zone to score the touchdown.

That versatility will be important for Ford going forward. He will likely win a spot on the 53-man roster, but he still needs to continue to improve each week leading to the season kickoff.
