Safety (5):

John Johnson III
Grant Delpit
Ronnie Harrison
Richard LeCounte III
D’Anthony Bell

The top three safeties will see the field a lot in Joe Woods’ defensive scheme, and we know who those players will be. John Johnson III, Grant Delpit, and Ronnie Harrison started to gel as 2021 progressed and should do well again this season.

Behind them, Richard LeCounte III made enough plays on Sunday to prove he should be on the field more in his second season. As for their fifth safety, D’Anthony Bell has separated himself from the pack. The undrafted free agent from West Florida can play either safety position and was fearless this preseason when going after the ball carrier as well as trying to break up the pass.

Specialists (3):

Cade York
Corey Bojorquez
Charley Hughlett

Cade York got his first chance to kick at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday and he had to deal with a wet field after it rained all day. That ended up being a good thing since it allowed the coaching staff to see him kick in less-than-ideal conditions, and he didn’t disappoint.

York knocked in his first kick from 50-yards and had a ton of room to spare. He did miss a 54-yarder when he hit the upright but that’s not a reason to panic. There’s no competition for him on the roster and there shouldn’t be.

As for their punter, Corey Bojorquez is going to be the guy. Long snapper is also set with Charley Hughlett, one of the longest-tenured players in Cleveland.
