No. 1: Myles Garrett, DE

Here’s another clear choice that needs to stand out Sunday. Myles Garret has a history of starting the year off strong so in this game, I expect that he will do that again and that Mayfield will be running around in the backfield for his life.

Do you remember when Garrett sacked Justin Fields 4.5 times in their game last year against the Chicago Bears? That’s the vision I have of what we’re about to watch this weekend. I get the feeling the former No. 1 pick from the 2017 NFL Draft will get to the quarterback and will create a lot of havoc in the backfield all afternoon.

The symbolism of Garrett having a good game and helping his team get off to a good start in this one could kick start a great year by the Browns defense. He had 16.5 sacks at the end of the season. He has said that he can get more this season and it all starts against Carolina.

Garrett will have his work cut out for him, as I suspect he will be double-teamed much of the afternoon. If other players on the defense can come up and play well, Garrett will get his opportunities and when he does, he needs to make the most of them.

If Brissett, Chubb, and Garrett can all stand out Sunday then I suspect Cleveland will walk away with their first opening day win since 2004 and this can be a tone setter for the season ahead.
