Cleveland Browns Bold Prediction no. 1 – Garrett Shines

Monson’s last prediction is that Myles Garrett takes the next step and wins Defensive Player of the Year. This isn’t an overly bold statement because he has been in the running the last few years, but it’s an extremely difficult award to win.

Garrett has continued to be a rising star in the league, but he continues to miss the pivotal play that wins his team the game. I’m not saying he isn’t an elite player, but that is the difference right now between him and a T.J. Watt. How many times have we seen Watt force a turnover or have a sack late in the game that all but seals the win for his team?

Garrett certainly can take that leap, and if this team wants to remain a contender with Watson suspended, they are going to need elite play. With guys like Jadeveon Clowney taking pressure from him on the opposing side of the line, and guys like Denzel Ward and Greg Newsome making the quarterback hold the ball an extra second, he is set up to have a huge 2022 season.

I would love to see Garrett finally win this award, but it will take a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck. Remember, if the Browns only win seven or eight games because of the Watson suspension, it will be that much harder for him to take home the hardware.
