5 Bold predictions for Cleveland Browns 2022 season
By Randy Gurzi
1. Myles Garrett wins NFL Defensive Player of the Year
Myles Garrett is coming off the best season of his career. The former No. 1 overall pick from the 2017 NFL Draft put it all together and had 51 tackles, a franchise-record 16 sacks, and added a defensive touchdown as well.
He also completely took over a game in their 26-6 win over the Chicago Bears in Week 3. Garrett spent the entire day in Chicago’s backfield and racked up 4.5 sacks on the day.

That hot start not only helped him set the team record for sacks in a single season but also had him in the discussion early on for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. That award ended up going to T.J. Watt of the Steelers who tied the league record for sacks with 22.5.
This season, Garrett will again have his eyes on that trophy and he could really make a case for himself considering the Browns will be without their franchise quarterback for 11 games. With Watson out, Garrett will be asked to lead their defense as they aim to keep scores as low as possible.
Should he do so, and keep them in the playoff race, that will go a long way toward helping him win the award. Another positive that could help him is his standing in franchise history.
Entering 2022, Garrett (58.5) is just 3.5 sacks behind Clay Matthews (62) for the most in Browns history. Should he also become the most prolific sack artist in team history while improving upon last season and keeping them in the race, Garrett will have no problem making this final bold prediction become reality and take home the hardware.
