Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens: 3 big storylines for Week 7
No. 2: Can Jacoby Brissett get back on track?
Jacoby Brissett is a career backup quarterback, outside of one season, and that’s perfectly fine. It’s also not a knock against him because good backups are hard to find. With that said, even after an impressive start to the season, expectations needed to be hampered.
Can you believe there was actual talk on whether or not Brissett should still remain the starter once Deshaun Watson’s suspension was over? Well, there was certainly discourse on that and then reality struck.
Brissett started off the season completing 61-of-92-passes for 596 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception over the first three games. The last three have not been so kind, and in return, the Browns have lost all three games. Brissett has completed 63-of-114-passes for 730 yards, two touchdowns, and four picks — two coming last week against the Patriots.
Cleveland cannot afford for Brissett to turn the ball over, especially in the red zone and in crunch times and when games are won and lost. Two of the Browns’ four losses had the final nailed hammered in with Brissett interceptions. That simply cannot happen if they want to be anywhere within striking distance once Watson makes his debut in Week 13.
