Joe Woods was let go this offseason and landed with the New Orleans Saints. Here are three free agents that could follow the former Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator

After three years in the role, Joe Woods was relieved of his duties as the Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator. But it didn’t take him long to find a new home.

Woods is reportedly heading to the New Orleans Saints where he will serve in the same role. For Woods, this will be his third tenure as a defensive coordinator, having held the job with the Denver Broncos in 2017 and 2018.

As he gets settled in his new job, he might petition the front office to bring in a few players from his time in Cleveland — and here are three free agents they could target.

Fans had completely soured on Woods and some of the players did as well. Myles Garrett came out in his defense near the end of 2022 but he also made several cryptic remarks that felt like a shot at Woods.

Having said that, not every player disliked Woods. In fact, some had plenty of success in his system, including Greedy Williams.

A former second-round pick from LSU, Williams missed the 2020 season with a nerve issue in his shoulder but when he returned in 2021, he had the best campaign of his career.

Injuries slowed him again in 2022 as he missed six games, which will likely lead to his departure in the offseason. For New Orleans, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take a flier on Williams. Not only do they need more depth at cornerback, but he would know the system and could start in a pinch.

The durability concerns are still there but for a low-risk one-year deal, this could be a good move for both sides.
