The Cleveland Browns entered the week dealing with so many injuries that head coach Todd Monken made Wednesday’s practice more of a glorified walkthrough.

By Friday, the Browns’ practice participation took a major step in the right direction.

Per ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi, defensive tackle Mason Graham, who was fortunate to avoid a major knee injury after going down early in Cleveland’s Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 1, was among the Browns’ injured players who returned to the field. Graham hadn’t practiced in 15 days, so even a limited session would give him at least a chance to return either Sunday against the Ravens or next week at Tennessee.

The Browns also got running back Quinshon Judkins, linebacker Carson Schwesinger, and edge defender Derek Barnett back on the field after all three players were nonparticipants on Wednesday and Thursday.

Browns fans have to love this news. While it remains unclear whether all of the Browns’ injured stars will be able to play on Sunday, Friday’s practice participation proves that they're pushing the envelope in hopes of that being the case.

Graham’s injury, which was deemed to be a sprained MCL and ankle following an MRI, is probably the most trying. He was expected to miss some time. So far, thanks to the mini bye week following Thursday Night Football against the Steelers, he’s only missed one game.

Mason Graham's practice return could be huge for Browns against Ravens

Getting Graham back in the lineup would be crucial against a Ravens offense that’s still capable of controlling a game behind Derrick Henry and its dominant run game. Per NFL data analyst Warren Sharp, the Browns have allowed an ugly 5.3 yards per carry without Graham on the field.

Graham started all 17 games as a rookie in 2025 and rarely missed a game in college at Michigan. He’s been extremely durable throughout his football career — and that’s becoming a common theme for this young Browns team.

Schwesinger was seen by reporters wearing a boot on his injured ankle this week, but it’s no surprise that the Browns’ defensive leader was back on the practice field Friday with an eye on suiting up against Baltimore. Schwesinger is Cleveland’s lone defender to play 100 percent of the snaps through five games.

Barnett is an older veteran player whose practice reps have been managed throughout. He should be good to go for the Ravens game, and Cleveland will need him. Barnett has been Cleveland’s most efficient pass rusher along with Isaiah McGuire through the first month.

Browns still have major questions to answer at running back

The status of both Judkins and No. 2 running back Dylan Sampson, whose 21-day practice window was opened this week, will be telling.

Judkins has been nursing an ankle issue, and his presence in the lineup will be crucial as Cleveland continues to find ways to get its struggling rushing attack untracked.

Sampson hasn’t yet logged an offensive touch this season after injuring his knee on special teams in the opener.

Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime, who was just signed to the active roster this week, are the team’s other running back options for Sunday’s game.
