No Jurevicius This Season; Rogers a Fullback?

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The bad news: this did not come as a total shock, but it would seem as though WR Joe Jurevicius will be sitting out the rest of the season as he continues to recover from multiple surgeries in the past year.  I found this to be most disappointing at first, and the reason for why I wanted him to make a comeback this season, because this was originally supposed to be his last NFL season.  Instead, he has said that, if healthy, he will make a decision about playing another year.  Jurevicius is a competitor and a huge asset to [...]

Kellen Reinstated; The Browns Continue to Baffle

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

There’s nothing better than a good case of “he said this, he said that” antics to make an organization look foolish.  And that is exactly what has happened to the Browns lately with their handling of TE Kellen Winslow’s staph infection.  It’s a long story, and it doesn’t quite add up, so I would imagine Phil Savage and the organization have something else to hide, most likely some form of shoddy communication between them and their Pro Bowl tight end.  Nevertheless, Winslow is back from his one-game suspension (any coincidence though that Steve Heiden had three receptions for 73 yards?) [...]

Nick Sorensen Saves The Day

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

Yes believe it folks, Nick Sorensen, the guy who allegedly grabbed a certain part of Adam “Pac-Man/I can’t stay out of trouble” Jones, made a play on a pass being juggled by Jacksonville WR Matt Jones.  Sorensen deserves some kind of award for that play; in a season where everything was going wrong, this win is great.

The Beginning of the End for Kellen Winslow and the Browns?

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Chris makes a good point in his last post that I have to say I agree with.  I honestly believe this is just one of the many steps that are about to be taken in the beginning of the removal of TE Kellen Winslow from the team.  As everyone already knows, Winslow was suspended for this week’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars (a suspension that he is appealing) for comments that apparently hurt the feelings of those involved in the organization.  Personally, I took no issue with Winslow’s comments after the loss to the Redskins; a second staph infection and [...]

All Hell Is Breaking Loose

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

Another day, another wrinkle to the season that is……. First, last week, at a Browns Backers meeting GM Phil Savage said that there is a realistic possibility that both Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn will be on the team’s roster for the ’09 season.  WTF Phil? Come on, besides the Giants game Anderson has played like complete shit! Brady needs to get some starts down the stretch here to showcase what he can do with this team.  At this point I could care less about rising Anderson’s “stock” for the sake of getting a good pick for him in a [...]

Hall of Famer Gene Hickerson Passes Away

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Browns are mourning the loss of one of the greatest players the team has ever had – Gene Hickerson.  One of the 16 Hall of Fame players the Browns have had in the team’s long and storied history, he was known as being one of the best offensive guards the game has ever seen.  He was a lineman for the legendary Jim Brown and played on the 1964 championship team – the last Browns team to win it all.  He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007.  Gene Hickerson will be missed not only by the Cleveland [...]

Same Old Story…

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

I would love to go into great detail about the Browns’ 14-11 loss to the Washington Redskins (no TDs in the first or third quarters this season…what is that?!), but there isn’t much there that I or anybody else hasn’t said about one thousand times before.  Derek Anderson reverted back to his old ways that has made him one of the lowest-rated quarterbacks in the league and head coach Romeo Crennel appears to have little control over the team. I say that about Crennel because tight end Kellen Winslow had some interesting comments after the game.  It was his first [...]

Kellen Winslow Practices

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

Kellen Winslow was finally able to practice after missing almost two weeks of practice with that famous “mystery” illness, although I would love to know who the “league source” is that said it was a case of gigantic testicles. The Browns’ tight end says “he hopes” to be able to play Sunday against the Redskins, adding that it is up to the Browns to make a decision on his health. But with Winslow, I bet that what he says, goes.  If he wants to play, he is going to play.

What Can We Expect Against Washington?

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

Here’s something that may or may not surprise you: Cleveland sports teams have been known to disappoint their fans, leaving them with some sort of inferiority complex.  It is difficult to maintain excitement over a team’s success, because the threat of a disappointment looms.  Such is the case this Sunday, when the Browns take on the Redskins (4:15 p.m. on CBS).  The Browns are on a two-game winning streak and are coming off a huge win against the defending Super Bowl champions.  With the team riding high, and getting noticeable attention from the national media, which appears to once again [...]

Winslow Questionable; Wright AFC Defensive Player of the Week

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

Tight end Kellen Winslow is still at home recovering from his mysterious illness, and it may end up keeping him from playing against the Washington Redskins this Sunday.  He is questionable for the game, so there is a chance he will be able to play.  If he can’t, however, I would certainly not be opposed to seeing Steve Heiden getting more playing time.  Heiden was a valuable force in the win over the Giants; his consistency over the years has often been overlooked, but the combination of Darnell Dinkins and him made for quite a success.  This begins to put [...]
