Cleveland Browns News: J.C. Tretter helping educate about CBA
By Dan Justik
The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including J.C. Tretter helping educate players about a potential CBA.
The NFL and the NFL Players Association have been working on a new CBA agreement over the past several weeks in order to prevent a lockout in 2021. Although the owners have agreed to a CBA agreement already, Cleveland Browns center J.C. Tretter is trying to educate the players.
Although the NFL owners have approved the proposed CBA agreement, the players will be the true test of if the CBA gets approved. Several players have already voiced their displeasure with the proposed agreement.
Tretter may not be voicing his displeasure about the proposed CBA, but he is making sure that all of the players have as many details as possible about the agreement. Since most players will be playing the rest of their careers under the proposed CBA, it is understandable why the players are taking the upcoming vote seriously.

"“I don’t want anyone to feel like they were not told about the potential drawbacks and some of the nuances before they voted, so here is a list I made to help you make the most informed vote possible,’’ he wrote."
CBA negotiations can always be tricky, especially when the league sends out the benefits to the players with the proposed agreement. Although Tretter is not saying vote one way or the other, he is playing a helpful role by making sure the players are as informed as they could be.
5 best Browns first round draft picks since 1999
The Cleveland Browns have had their fair share of first round draft picks over the years, but there has not been as much as substance as one would hope. Clay Goodwin lists the five best first round picks the Browns have made since 1999.
"On Wednesday night, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Smith is signing a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers, who play less than an hour south of where he grew up. Smith played his high school ball at West Rowan high school in Mount Ulla, North Carolina, and later signed to play at the University of Arkansas."
Chris Smith was put into an incredibly difficult situation last season after still trying to play football following the passing of his girlfriend right in front of him. The Browns made a questionable PR decision by releasing him, but it was a move that made sense on the football field. It is good to see Smith attempt to re-fire his career after the tragedy.
