2. LB/EDGE Kyler Fackrell

The Browns lack talent at both the edge rush depth and at the second level, so why not go after a player who can fill both positions? Kyler Fackrell is currently playing as the WILL linebacker for the Giants, and is asked to maintain duties at the second level while still being deployed off the edge as well on occasion. This is the plan the Browns had for Sione Takitaki to start the season, but it has not gone to plan.

Playing out a one year deal, the Browns would get Fackrell as just a rental for the rest of the season with no guarantee he would re-sign beyond 2020. Given the current nature of the linebacking unit, this may be a risk the Brown are willing to take on the 28 year old defensive hybrid. Coming to Cleveland, he would already be pushing for the spot as the best linebacker on the roster, and the first guy off the bench as an edge rusher as well.

The cost to get Fackrell to Cleveland would not be much more than a future day-three pick after they already shipped off Golden for a future sixth round pick. At that cost, the Browns may be able to find value in Fackrell, even if he is just a short term solution to a long-term problem on the defensive side of the ball in Cleveland.
