2. Jarrad Davis, Detroit Lions

There was a time when Jarrad Davis was considered the centerpiece of the Detroit Lions defense. They added him as their first-round pick (No. 21 overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft. The Florida product was one of the highest-ranked linebackers in the class and excelled at his Pro Day which shot his stock up.

As a rookie, Davis started 14 games and had 96 tackles, two sacks, and a pick. He was even better in 2018, recording 100 tackles and a career-high six sacks. Despite his numbers, he was never a great fit for head coach Matt Patricia’s defense and started to see his role decline.

Ahead of 2020, the Lions declined the fifth-year option on Davis’ contract which indicated he wasn’t in their future plans. That’s become even more evident as he has started just two of seven games and is on pace for his least productive season of the year. In those games, Davis recorded just 18 total tackles but does have two forced fumbles credited to him ‚ which gives him an impressive seven on the year.

With it clear that he won’t be with the Lions beyond 2020, it would make sense to see what it would take to pry him away from the club that drafted him. While it’s true he never lived up to his lofty draft status, Davis is a talented player who would be an upgrade for the Browns and the price to acquire him would be worth the talent he brings.
