4. Vernon gets another sack

Back in 2019, former Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey made a move to improve the team’s defensive line. He took a risk in making this move as he gave up a very talented right guard in Kevin Zeitler but in return, Cleveland landed a Pro Bowl edge rusher from the New York Giants, Olivier Vernon.

While with New York in 2018, Vernon had just made his first-ever Pro Bowl as he had 30 tackles and seven sacks — but he missed five games. The season prior, he had 37 tackles and 6.5 sacks but missed four games.

The durability concerns continued in Cleveland as he played in just 10 games in 2019. On top of that, he struggled to finish his pass rushes as he had just 3.5 sacks on the season. Those same problems continued in 2020 as he already missed two games and heading into Week 8, he was still looking for his first sack of the season. He did that and more as he was one of the lone bright spots on defense, finishing with two sacks on the day.

Vernon finally looked like the player Cleveland drafted as he was winning with power and speed — while looking healthy. It should help him get back into a groove and on Sunday against a struggling Houston offensive line, he should rack up at least one more sack.
