There is all kinds of history, to be sure, but part of the allure of professional sports is watching Herculean athletes accomplish the seemingly impossible on a year-to-year basis. Each year, the record books are updated based on what happened in the previous year, and it doesn't take a winning team to rewrite those dusty ol' scrolls.
Case in point: just about the only fun storyline for the 2025 Cleveland Browns was Myles Garrett's trek to the quarterback sack record. He accomplished the feat at the buzzer in Week 18 against the rival Cincinnati Bengals when he notched elusive sack No. 23. Now, Garrett's record was a league record, making it all the more prestigious.
Even without a bona fide future Hall of Famer on the roster, there are a few Cleveland Browns team records we have on our radar as being potentially within reach if things break the right way.
The 2026 Browns will feature plenty of talented players with an opportunity to make team history
Combined tackles in a season — linebacker Carson Schwesinger
We're going to fashion this list from most probable to least probable — as such, Schwesinger becoming the Browns' single-season tackle king seems like a foregone conclusion. As a rookie who went on to win Defensive Rookie of the Year, Schwesinger racked up 156 combined tackles. That total fell just two short of D'Qwell Jackson's team record of 158.
The Browns may be spending a lot of time trailing this season, meaning Schwesinger might be tasked with bringing down opposing ballcarriers at an unusually high rate. Barring injury, this one seems like a safe bet.

Receiving yards AND touchdowns by a rookie — wide receivers KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston
The Browns may not have one of the league's best quarterbacks. Still, the offense must go through someone. In 2026, it's becoming clear that the Browns will funnel their passing game through first-round rookie KC Concepcion and second-rounder Denzel Boston. The duo has different builds and strengths, allowing them both to share the field most of the time.
While it may be tough to get the targets needed to put up the production necessary to unseat Kevin Johnson from the top of the Browns' rookie receiving ladder this year, it shouldn't be a surprise if Concepcion is able to top it. Boston might be better positioned to snatch Paul Warfield's ancient touchdown record, as Boston's 6'4" frame should make him a friendly target in the red zone.

Rushing yards in a season — running back Quinshon Judkins
Okay, I know, I know. It's a long shot. But we're going bold with this one. The Browns may feature one of the league's weakest passing attacks due to trotting out soon-to-be 31-year-old Deshaun Watson as their starter. Conventional wisdom points to leaning on the rushing attack and grinding out tough games by milking the clock and playing good defense.
What's more, while Dylan Sampson has proven himself to be a capable player in limited action, the Browns did little to add any kind of competition behind Judkins in the running back stable. The season is setting up to be a heavy dose of Judkins. With head coach and playcaller Todd Monken's history with bellcow runners like Nick Chubb and Derrick Henry, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Judkins emerges as one of the league's top rushers in 2026.
Even just a solid season won't get him on the leaderboard, though. Hall of Famer Jim Brown has a stranglehold on the top three, holding all the spots with otherworldly seasons from eons ago.

The Dawg Pound is a proud fanbase. Unfortunately, their beloved franchise has done little to deserve their loyalty and cheers in recent years. From controversial transactions to a pile of losses that would take most fans to the brink, the Browns aren't exactly in anyone's good graces.
Looking at a defense featuring stars like Jared Verse, the aforementioned Schwesinger, Denzel Ward, and Grant Delpit, it seems far from likely that they would surrender the most points in franchise history this year. There comes a point where a team's offense is so putrid, so inept, that their defense is at a considerable disadvantage.
If things ever got that bad, the defense could get worn out through turnovers, three-and-outs, and overall wretchedness, playing more than double the snaps of their offensive counterparts. The hope is that Todd Monken is at least able to coordinate a respectable attack that keeps the Browns from making dubious history in 2026.
