Not so long ago, the Cleveland Browns weren't considered a premium destination for NFL free agents. The team's never-ending struggles and losing culture often hurt their chances of landing top talent outside of the NFL Draft.

Things are finally starting to change under the Todd Monken regime. The front office revamped the roster with two strong draft classes, and while there's still plenty to work on, the team is finally trending in the right direction.

That's not necessarily the case for some of the guys who were on the team over the past couple of years.

Let's take a look around the league to see how some of the departed Browns are doing this season.

Former Cleveland Browns player check-in: Most are struggling

David Njoku can't catch a break

The Browns could use a healthy David Njoku right now. He bet on himself and joined a crowded tight end room with the Los Angeles Chargers, but he's spent most of the season on injured reserve and on a winless team.

Let's get you healthy and back to Berea, Njoku! The Browns need you.

Dalvin Tomlinson is a solid trade candidate

Another Charger might be available via trade, though the Browns may want to pass on this one.

Dalvin Tomlinson has been a non-factor and is on an expiring deal. Some teams might still want to give the veteran nose tackle a shot, but his best years are clearly behind him.

Martin Emerson Jr. is looking the part in New Orleans

Letting Martin Emerson Jr. go was clearly a miss by Andrew Berry and the front office.

He's bounced back after his season-ending injury, logging four pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two interceptions in his first six games with his new team. He signed with the New Orleans Saints late, on April 29, on a one-year deal worth just $1.5 million.

Wyatt Teller got benched in Houston

Wyatt Teller's family made a big fuss about his departure, only to be benched a month into his tenure in Houston.

The Browns found a true gem in third-round rookie Austin Barber, so they definitely don't miss Teller along the interior of the offensive line. It looks like Teller could be on the trade block after falling out of favor with the Texans.

Devin Bush is thriving in the Windy City

Devin Bush's departure was a tough one, and he's balling out with the Bears.

He's already up to 38 tackles, one pass breakup, one sack, and two fumble recoveries. Even so, letting him walk in free agency led the Browns to Quincy Williams, so it turned out well for everyone involved.
