New Fan-Sided Blog: Cat Crave
*cue ferocious panther roar* Carolina Panthers fans may rejoice, because the Fan-Sided network has added yet another blog in its quest to cover every NFL team. The lead blogger over at Cat Crave is John White and he’s going to be able to tell you everything you need to know about the Panthers, so get over there and get your fix. *cue ferocious panther roar again for added effect*
More Mocks Added
Sixteen more mock drafts have been added, to be exact. If you want to join in on the fun and have your mock included on here, drop me a line.
Browns Links for Wednesday, January 30th
Halftime Adjustments, unfortunately, no longer exists. However, it has simply merged with other great writers and is now part of a new blog called Waiting for Next Year. I’ll also have a link up on the blogroll. How surprising that Romeo Crennel never doubted the team could perform at such a high level. New defensive coordinator Mel Tucker met with the media on Tuesday to discuss how he plans to turn around the defensive unit. Apparently, Crennel is not the only coach to catch lightning in a bottle after years of mediocrity. Who doesn’t want an autographed helmet? And who [...]
Romeo Rewarded for Unexpected Success
If you were to tell me before this season that you thought the Browns would go 10-6 and Romeo Crennel would get a two-year extension through 2011, I would have had half a mind to punch you in the mouth. But it happened, and just about everybody is cashing in on this highly unexpected season. Big bad Romeo is said to be making somewhere around $4 million per year. My mind continues to melt with amazement when I remember that he led the Browns to a franchise-best 7-1 mark at home and currently holds the respect of every player in [...]
Make That Four Pro Bowlers
Long snapper Ryan Pontbriand (it’s not going to be often that I mention his name) has been named to the AFC Pro Bowl roster as a “need player,” one player selected from any position to fulfill a need. He is the kind of player that is doing his job right if you never hear his name, so it is refreshing to hear he has been selected. Browns fans know he deserves it. Pontbriand joins Braylon Edwards, Joshua Cribbs, and Joe Thomas as Brownies headed to the Pro Bowl. I’m actually going to tune in this year, wearing my Edwards jersey [...]
New Stuff
Brady the Benchwarmer, Year II?
I may have said this, but the Browns have offered quarterback Derek Anderson a three-year contract. Shows what I know, but I still get the feeling that Phil Savage didn’t think he would get enough in return for Anderson and decided to bring him back. Plus, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have two legitimate quarterbacks, allowing Brady Quinn to learn every facet of the offensive system from the bench instead of while he watches a corner steak down the sidelines for a pick-six after an errant throw. Offering only a three-year deal to Anderson means the entire future [...]
Possible First-Round Brown: OLB Dan Connor
At 6’3″, 233 lbs, OLB Dan Connor out of Penn State is getting plenty of buzz in many mock drafts. Some people have him pegged as a top-ten pick while others have him falling somewhere in the mid to late first round. The hype surrounding him is that many compare him to another highly-touted prospect out of Penn State – Paul Posluszny. While he is a bit undersized, he is known for being a ball hawk, which will be important. Connor is a strong tackler who excels at creating tackles for loss. Above average athletically – while his speed won’t [...]
Browns Links for Thursday, January 24th
I had to do some links; Bret Michaels was the first thing on the page for far too long. Todd Grantham has found a new home in Dallas, coaching the Cowboys’ defensive line. Seven Browns have made the coveted 2007 All-Unwanted Team. The case for not signing Jamal Lewis to a long-term deal. Even the AFL doesn’t want Peter Warrick, the former Florida State standout strongly considered by the Browns for the #1 overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft. Coming tomorrow: the next “Possible First-Round Brown.”
Learning to Enjoy the Off-Season
The battle for Romeo Crennel’s soul – okay, so it’s just contract negotiations – is still raging on. And when I say raging on, I mean that Phil Savage and Crennel’s agent, Joe Linta, met for a positive discussion about a possible multi-year extension. The excitement of the off-season is in full swing! But seriously, there is a lot to like about the off-season. Not only do football fans get to recharge their batteries, but we also get to look at the upcoming draft, watch our teams dip their hands into the free agent pool, and witness the various ways [...]
