RB Peyton Hillis Looking to Make Some Noise in 2010

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, OTAs, Position Battles | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Much of the attention surrounding the Cleveland Browns’ running backs has been focused on Jerome Harrison and rookie Montario Hardesty. However, Peyton Hillis, the back acquired in the trade that sent Brady Quinn to the Denver Broncos, wants everyone to know that he plans on getting involved in the Browns’ running game this season. Hillis has been lining up at different positions during OTAs and made some nice catches out of the backfield last week. If Hillis is looking to prove that the Browns got the better end of the deal, and that he can improve upon his stellar rookie [...]

RB Montario Hardesty to Start for the Browns?

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Position Battles | COMMENTS: None Yet

Despite the prevailing thought that running back Jerome Harrison will be the feature back in the Browns’ offense next season, Jonathan Dove of NFLMocks.com thinks rookie running back Montario Hardesty will end up getting the bulk of the carries. Here’s what Dove had to say: Hardesty is a tough runner that always fights for extra yards.  He excels at running inside the tackles and utilizes his good vision to find the open holes.  While at Tennessee he played in a pro style offense where he was asked to run routes out of the backfield and most importantly pass block. This [...]

Despite Not Signing Tender, RB Jerome Harrison is a Part of OTAs

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, OTAs, Position Battles | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Perhaps looking at the potential talent that is fighting to take carries away from him this season, running back Jerome Harrison made a wise decision and joined the Browns’ organized team activities this week. Despite not signing the one-year tender offered to him, Harrison made the right move by showing up to the OTAs, as it is something the team, and its fans, will take notice of. This most likely doesn’t change how Harrison feels about his contract situation – after all, he did miss the first week of OTAs, likely due to that very issue – but coming to [...]

Former Browns Reuben Droughns and Ken Dorsey Find Work

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Other/Off-Topic | COMMENTS: None Yet

Two former Browns – running back Reuben Droughns and quarterback Ken Dorsey – have found work in football, just not in the NFL. Droughns, the tough back who gained 1,232 yards for the Browns in 2005, will be a coach in the Central European Football League. He won’t be playing on the team – the Belgrade Vukovi – but will have a big impact coaching players in a league that will jump at the chance to learn from someone who has NFL experience. Ken Dorsey, best known for being the team’s third-stringer in the Derek Anderson-Brady Quinn days of drama, [...]

Why Having Super Bowl XLVIII in New York/New Jersey is a Good Thing

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL, Super Bowl | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

For the first time in Super Bowl history, the world’s most famous game will be played in an open-air stadium in a cold-weather city. In 2014, Super Bowl XLVIII will be played in the New York Jets and New York Giants new Meadowlands stadium. It makes perfect sense that this would be the first city to try the experiment on – after all, why not play the biggest game on the biggest stage? … To read the rest of this article and find out why this is not only good for the league, but potentially Cleveland as well, click here [...]

Cleveland Browns Running Backs Finding Some Praise

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Position Battles | COMMENTS: None Yet

Running backs Jerome Harrison and Montario Hardesty are getting some love from Fox Sports, as Mike Harmon’s list of the top 50 RBs finds Harrison ranked #26 and Hardesty ranked at a surprising #43. It is not as surprising to see Harrison where he is on this list; his performance in the final stretch of last season was nothing short of incredible. What might come as a bit of a surprise is that Hardesty finds himself on the list at all having never played a down in the NFL. That just goes along with the consistent praise the rookie has [...]

RB Chris Jennings Will Not Be Charged With Assault

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Legal Trouble | COMMENTS: None Yet

Running back Chris Jennings, the player accused of assaulting a doorman at a club in Cleveland last month, will not be charged with a crime, as an agreement has been reached. Must be nice to simply pay off your legal troubles, eh? – Also, for the record, Browns president Mike Holmgren would most likely vote against changing overtime rules in the regular season.

Browns Legend Jim Brown Thinks LeBron James Will Leave Cleveland

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Other/Off-Topic | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Even Jim Brown, the best player in Browns history and arguably the greatest running back in NFL history, has a say when it comes to what LeBron James will do this summer. Brown is of the belief that James will leave town, but it doesn’t stop there. According to Brown, the Cleveland fans and media are the ones driving James away. He brings up the idea that expectations were too high and for us to analyze and “say humiliating things” about him, despite what he has done for the franchise, is, as Brown puts it, “an atrocity.” The people of [...]

QB Jake Delhomme Enjoying a Fresh Start in Cleveland

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, OTAs | COMMENTS: None Yet

Yes, I realize that it is only May, and the Browns are taking part in organized team activities, which are volunteer practices that sort of resemble what football is really like. However, it is a very refreshing feeling knowing that the summer will not be infested with talk of a quarterback controversy, an issue that seems to plague the Browns every single season. Despite the reservations we might have about quarterback Jake Delhomme, especially the ones regarding his disappointing 2009 season, the stability he brings to the position is going to go a long way in the improvement of the [...]

LB D’Qwell Jackson to Possibly Sit Out Through Training Camp

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, OTAs | COMMENTS: None Yet

Don’t expect linebacker D’Qwell Jackson’s holdout to end anytime soon, as he will wait until at least the June 15th deadline to sign the one-year tender that has been offered to him. Obviously, Jackson is not happy about being offered the second-round tender for a four-year player – $1.759 million – especially since he was promised a new deal by the previous regime. I don’t know if he’s noticed, but those aren’t the same people as last season working in the front office now. By waiting until June 15th to make a decision, Jackson will most definitely miss the mandatory [...]
